The NIU was born from a collaboration of orgs responding to yet another depressing State of Nature report about the accelerating decline of species and eco-systems in the UK.

The vision for NIU is an open innovation and collaboration project with a mission of inviting and exciting people into nature intelligence gathering, participative science and looking out for the natural world.

Our intention is to bring together UK nature with citizen science, creativity, technology, outdoor pursuits, health and community to mash up, prototype and hatch ideas with potential to get us humans listening, watching, noticing, gathering, connecting and falling back in love with nature in the places around us.
